Some of our family members have taken part in FTCC’s “Cumberland Grow Initiative”. Monday through Friday from 8 am—5 pm our family and other students learn important trade skills including plumbing, welding, HVAC, forklift, and carpentry/construction.
The course, being about 11 weeks long, is fast-paced and requires determination and dedication.
When asked what your favorite course has been, Barbara, a breakfast family member, laughed and said “Forklifting. I love getting to drive the truck!” She continued, “I love that we’ve learned things I’ve never thought of doing. And these [skills] we all should know how to do and how to do it better.”
Barbara then expressed how thankful she is for the teachers and how they have all been encouraging and explained things in an easy fashion. She was proud to share that once you’ve passed and gained your certification, you can apply anywhere in the United States—not just in North Carolina.
The course wraps up this month, with graduation on June 17th to celebrate.
We are very proud of our breakfast family for putting in the work, time, and acquiring significant talents to better their future! Continue to pray for them and all as they make positive decisions.
