Gray Hurley – Eagle Scout Project

The Inasmuch prayer garden was created in 2009 from the slabs of concrete cut from the dining room floor to install the plumbing. This peaceful green space, tucked behind our ministry center is used by many of our homeless family to eat, pray, read or just have a place where they can stop and reflect on what the day will hold.
This area is so important to the Inasmuch campus since it welcomes our morning volunteers, guests,
staff and even hosts special events.
We’ve known Gray Hurley since he was born and are just thrilled he chose Inasmuch, a ministry he has participated in his whole life with his entire family! When Gray met with Executive Director Sue Byrd to discuss his Eagle Scout Project, she asked for him to create some landscaping definition on one side of the garden. …But, Gray decided he was up to the challenge of finishing both sides and the results are really beautiful!
Gray raised money from members of his family, local businesses and friends as well as the Brothers of the Vine Bible Study group who also serve breakfast at FAOIAM regularly. Bells Seed Store generously discounted the mulch and Home Depot delivered the railroad ties all the way from Garner with no delivery fee. Gray’s grandfather, former Mayor Bill Hurley, also lent a hand by delivering supplies to the job-site!
